| Objectives: To understand that seed production, germination & dispersal are part of a plant’s lifecycle. Humans have discovered how to develop these seeds more intensively to produce, for example, grain products such as bread. | |
| Methodology: A variety of wild seeds are selected to discover how they disperse. Students plough a drill & sow wheat & then see modern large scale intensive cereal farming, grain storage & drying. | |
| Key Words: Cereal arable, volunteers, germination, dispersal, plough, drill combine harvester, moisture content, drying, intensive, organic/inorganic methods. | |
| Skills & Concepts: Exploring hedgerows, discussion & explanation of what has been seen, planting seeds including a close look at broad bean seeds, identify plants & assign them to a group (classify) | |
