| Objectives: To investigate the organisms that live in still water (ponds) & flowing water (streams) & to make comparisons between them. Students also look at the work of streams & how & why their physical characteristics may change. The general care for water resources is also studied. | |
| Methodology: Ponds. Pond dipping at various places & the use of keys to identify organisms & their lifecycles. Streams. Kick sampling & dipping. Comparisons are made between pond & stream life. Measurements to find out the width, depth & velocity of the stream at various points. | |
| Key Words: Organisms, metamorphosis, lifecycle, erosion, transportation, deposition, velocity, pollution, meander, flow. | |
| Skills & Concepts: Use geographical & scientific language, observe & record, use fieldwork skills, follow instructions, make comparisons, check observations/measurements by repeating them as appropriate. | |
